Ross & Smith Islands, located around 20 kilometers from Diglipur and 320 kilometers from Port Blair, embody the epitome of natural beauty in the Andaman archipelago. These twin islands boast palm-fringed beaches, expansive shores, and mesmerizing emerald waters, creating a picturesque panorama that evolves with the shifting tides and sunlight. In order to preserve the pristine environment, commercial activities are strictly prohibited on Ross & Smith Islands. The crystalline waters surrounding the islands offer ideal conditions for snorkeling and swimming. While snorkeling gear is not available for rent, visitors are encouraged to bring their own equipment to discover the hidden underwater treasures.

Access to these islands requires a forest permit, obtainable from the Forest Office in Diglipur on all days except Sundays. The entry fees for the permit are set at 500 INR for foreigners, 50 INR for Indian adults, and 25 INR for children. To maintain the tranquility of the islands, overnight stays are not permitted. Travelers can reach Aerial Bay to catch a ferry to the islands, with the journey taking approximately 20 minutes. Due to regulations, fiberglass boats are now used instead of dungis or wooden boats.

Smith Island, in particular, offers a range of amenities for travelers, including bamboo huts, changing rooms, and toilets. It serves as an ideal location for island camping and exploring coastal village life. Visitors may even catch glimpses of wild elephants bathing in the sun within the island's forests, adding to the enchantment of the experience.
